About Me

AmyBerg-014.jpg

I am an assistant professor of philosophy at Oberlin College. Starting in fall 2024, I will be an assistant professor at Rice University.

I work on ethics and political philosophy, including well-being; my book The Well-Rounded Life is under contract with Princeton University Press. I also have related interests in feminist philosophy, philosophy of law, and the history of ethics and political philosophy.

Before coming to Oberlin, I taught at Rhode Island College and UNC Chapel Hill. I received my doctorate from UC San Diego in October 2015—and before that, I grew up in Oregon, received a BA in philosophy and government from Claremont McKenna College, and did a brief stint at a software company in the Midwest.
